Korshunova, who had been sending money back to her parents in Kazakhstan, was in love with the city.

"She really liked New York," said the friend. "People made her feel comfortable here."

Korshunova's doorman, who did not want to be identified, remembered the catwalker as "very soft-spoken."

"She always said hi and bye," he said. "She was beautiful, beautiful."

Boy Decapitated At Six Flags In Georgia

A boy died Saturday after being decapitated at the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park outside of Atlanta, authorities said.

The Cobb County, Georgia, Fire and Emergency department said the victim was part of a group of boys who jumped a fence and entered an area of the park they were not supposed to be in. No one else was injured,

COME ON MAN DMX ARRESTED AGAIN????

(June 28) - The week ended in much the same way that it began for DMX, the rapper born Earl Simmons, with his arrest at the hands of the Miami police.

On Friday afternoon Simmons was arrested after approaching an undercover officer and asking for "30 powder and 15 weed," meaning $30 worth of cocaine and $15 worth of marijuana, reports the Miami Herald . Simmons then handed the officer $45.

On Monday Simmons was picked up for an outstanding warrant for not having a valid driver's license. He was later released on $500 bail.

No stranger to law enforcement, Simmons was arrested twice in May, as well. And he is awaiting trial on drug and animal cruelty charges in Arizona after a raid of his Maricopa County home turned up 12 neglected pit bulls.

There is no confirmation yet to reports that the entire board of Air Jamaica has been asked to resign.

A report in Wednesday's Observer newspaper said the entire Air Jamaica board was Tuesday asked to resign amid growing concerns within the Government that the ailing national carrier is being badly managed.

It is reported that a new Board is to be appointed in two weeks.

This comes two weeks after long serving Board member Noel Hylton resigned.

There were reports that Board members were split over the decision to grant a salary increase to some categories of employees at the airline.

On Monday Prime Minister Bruce Golding bemoaned the continued drain on the country's resources by the cash-strapped carrier.

He said then that the airline had recorded US$1 billion in losses for the last financial year.

Mr. Golding also indicated that the government was committed to divesting the airline by March of next year.

Efforts by the RJR News Centre to reach Board Chairman Shirley Williams were unsuccessful as both her home and cellular phones rang unanswered.

Both Finance Minister Audley Shaw and Minister without Portfolio Don Wehby are off the island.

Mini-Me files lawsuit over sex tape

Verne Troyer (a.k.a. Mini-Me) is suing the pants off of TMZ for showing footage of him without his tiny pants. Apparently, Mini-Me filmed a sex tape with ex-girlfriend Ranae Shrider (above) and, like any good amateur porn, it was stolen and found its way online. His lawyers claim to have sent several cease-and-desist letters before and after TMZ posted the footage. E! Online reports:

In addition to the gossip purveyor, which just posted the footage yesterday, Troyer has also sued One Night in Paris peddler Kevin Blatt. He claims that Blatt, who's known for his celeb-porn brokering ways, somehow acquired the stolen tape and, according to TMZ, is currently entertaining a $100,000 distribution offer from SugarDVD.
Troyer is alleging violation of privacy, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, violation of right to publicity and misappropriation of name and likeness.

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (June 26) - A millionaire who inflicted years of abuse on two Indonesian housekeepers held as virtual slaves in her Long Island mansion was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in prison.Varsha Sabhnani, 46, was convicted with her husband in December on a 12-count federal indictment that included forced labor, conspiracy, involuntary servitude and harboring aliens.

The trial provided a glimpse into a growing U.S. problem of domestic workers exploited in slave-like conditions.

The victims testified that they were beaten with brooms and umbrellas, slashed with knives, and forced to climb stairs and take freezing showers as punishment. One victim was forced to eat dozens of chili peppers against her will, and then was forced to eat her own vomit when she couldn't keep the peppers down, prosecutors said.

U.S. District Judge Arthur Spatt called the testimony "eye-opening, to say the least - that things like that go on in our country."

"In her arrogance, she treated Samirah and Enung as less than people," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Demetri Jones. "Justice for the victims: That's what the government is asking for."

Florida Teen Loses Arm in Alligator Attack

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. (June 24) - A Florida teen who was attacked by an 11 1/2-foot alligator lost his arm, but managed to escape with his life after poking the animal in the eye.

A sheriff's office report says Kasey Edwards was hanging out with friends beside a canal in Okeechobee County on Sunday when he decided to go swimming.

Halfway through the swim, an alligator clamped down on his left arm. Edwards says he fought back by grabbing onto a buoy line and not letting go. He then poked the animal in the eye to get free.

As Edwards began to swim away, he noticed that his left arm was missing. Friends pulled him to safety and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

'It doesn't exist, of course. But the desire keeps you going. The route to longevity has always been to be able to ride the lows.


'Someone like Stevie Wonder did that. I am only as good as my last song. Hits are a pension, but I don't want to rest on those songs. I want to have a future.'


Craig, who owns a home in Miami as well as a north-London penthouse, hopes to return to the US with his band for a concert tour later this year.

Don Imus, the radio jock who was fired last year for calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos," has once again put his foot in his mouth in comments related to the world of sports.



When one of Imus's on-air partners, Warner Wolf, discussed Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones' legal troubles, Imus asked, "What color is he." When told that Jones is African-American, Imus said, "Well, there you go. Now we know."

Wolf: "Defensive back Adam 'Pacman' Jones, recently signed by the Cowboys. Here's a guy suspended all of 2007 following a shooting in a Vegas night club."

DOCTORS TO AMY WINEHOUSE GIVE IT UP OR YOUR HISTORY!

It’s been a while since we’ve reported on Amy Winehouse’s ongoing addiction struggle, but her dad Mitch spoke out yesterday about her health problems and it’s a pretty sorry state of affairs:

“The doctors have said that if she had continued the way she was going she could have ended up an invalid — she wouldn’t have been able to breathe. With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 per cent lung capacity. “

That is bad news for a girl her age – not to mention it’s pretty hard to sing if you can’t even fill your lungs.

Her dad also had a warning for her pal Pete Doherty, who pledged a few months ago to help Amy get off drugs:

Mitch has urged her drug dealers and addict friends such as rocker Pete Doherty – who has been spending time with the 24-year-old since his release from prison last month – to stay away from her.

“I’m saying to those drug dealers, and they know who they are, if they are supplying crack to Amy, then they’ve got to take responsibility. I don’t want her hanging out with her mates like Pete Doherty either,” he said.

I mean, no kidding. Talk about removing the plank from your own eye first.
