Charities take 29 Dominican children to the U.S. for medical treatment
Santo Domingo.-Twenty Dominican children of low-income families suffering from various diseases and congenital deformities went to the U.S. yesterday with the United Hearts Foundation of Dominican Republic and Heal the Children Mid-Atlantic, organizations which perform humanitarian work.
Eight mothers traveled with their children and were met at John F. Kennedy airport by businessman Francisco Rodriguez (Paquito), chairman of United Hearts subsidiary in New York and Carmen Rodriguez, vice president; Dr. Juan Tapia Mendoza and Rena Tolsma, director of Healing the Children Midlantic.
Upon arrival, the children were handed over to families who’ve pledged to provide room and board, as well as to hospitals in New York, Boston, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia, said Rodriguez.
